He's gonna be 10mo !
18.5.08
My beloved Jordan will be 10mo on Vesak Day, soon he will be 1 year old. He's been out of the womb longer than he was inside! My little munchkin still only has his bottom 2 teeth but he can
Physical ~ cross crawl, pull to stand, cruise, walk with assistance, use his pincer grip to pick up smaller bits of food and he's also slowly figuring out how to feed himself those same small bits of food that get bunched in his fist after picking them up. He's still excessively mouthing everything he can get his hands on but at least he's starting to be willing to explore and learn via other methods.
Emotional ~ look for and call me maaaaa! (he's been looking for me for everything recently, makes me feel very wanted unlike before, heehee), pointedly ignoring us after being scolded, feel sad and cry when I make crying sounds after he has unintentionally injured me, laugh w/o prompting from us when he has done something he finds amusing and of course, express happiness when he has accomplished something (new).
Language ~ apart from calling me ma when he is looking for me to carry him especially when it's time to sleep, he understands when we ask him where his milk-milk (tried teaching him to use the baby sign for it but so far he has resolutely refused to do the action and will instead start his special milk-milk whine) is by looking at then either putting his mouth on my breast or touching it with his hand, he also clearly understands the meaning of no and can stop when we tell him no, not to touch or do something, however that doesn't necessarily mean he won't try his luck, he also knows the 4 cats by their names and will look for them when we ask him where 'Name of cat is'.
Eating and drinking ~ the occasional times when he drinks ebm he still only seems to be able to drink 120ml, if not he will normally nurse 5-6x daily, he eats a full child-size bowl of porridge (or occasionally pasta and bottled baby food) 2x a day and in between he has yogurt, fruits, cheese, teething biscuits or bite-sized snacks.
I recently bought a Severin yogurt maker (S$58 from Tangs) as I was unable to find many types of full fat yogurt on the shelves for Jordan. I was unsuccessful the very first try, the milk never fermented and I suspect the Yogi House brand of powdered yogurt starter (S$30) I bought from Vitakids was the culprit for that failed attempt. While doing online searches for how to make a great homemade yogurt, I read that Fage Total Greek yogurt was a really yummy and good yogurt to use as a starter so I was really happy when I saw it being featured in thursday's copy of the Straits Times Urban as I never saw it previously while looking for full fat yogurt in the supermarket. So I tried once again on Friday night using Fage as a starter and was happy to see the milk changing to yogurt. I didn't want it to be too sour and tarty so I stopped the process after 7 hours and the yogurt has turned out really unique with a texture akin to tao huay (soya beancurd) and not sour at all like the usual yogurt available. Since I know it works, I'll be using Horizons organic whole (full fat) milk and Fage from now on for Jordan's yogurt. It's really quite exciting to be doing something so normal and motherly, hahaha!
